My name is Maxine Silk (Lic.Ac, MBAA) and I practice Traditional Acupuncture holding weekly clinics in Ashby De La Zouch in North West Leicestershire.

My practice is founded on the belief that we need to promote health through balance.   Balance in diet, fluids, sleep, exercise, emotions and lifestyle.

The key to 5 element acupuncture is the core belief that many physical symptoms experienced by people today are the result of emotional and spiritual distress rather than physical attributes.

Whether you are experiencing a chronic issue, a recent injury or want to achieve optimal health, restoring balance is the key to your well-being.

Acupuncture Therapies

Together with 5 element acupuncture, I also treat using adjunctive skills such as

  • Cupping Therapy
  • GuaSha
  • Moxibustion
  • Muscle Taping
  • Korean Hand Therapy
  • Auricular Acupuncture & NADA
  • Korean Magnet Therapy
  • Japanese Acupuncture (non-insertive needles) / Toyohari / Shonishin (paediatric)
  • Cosmetic Acupuncture and TuiNa Facial Massage
  • Zero Balancing
  • Battlefield Acupuncture

I treat according to your specific condition and will suggest a particular therapy if I think it will improve your condition.

My Training

Educated at The Acupuncture Academy  I was awarded a Distinction for their Professional Licentiate in Acupuncture, as well as Highly Commended for my clinical work.  My training was extensive and covered all aspects of Chinese medical and acupuncture theory, with a focus on the five element approach.  This means that I consider your main health problem, as well as taking a more holistic approach to you as an individual.

I am also developing my skills in Toyohari acupuncture by completing a (120 hours) post-graduate course delivered by the UK Toyohari Association (TUK) which is part of the European Branch of the Toyohari Association (EBTA).  I am also a student of Zero Balancing.

Professional Membership

I am a member of the BAA (British Acupuncture Association) and adhere to the BAA’s Code of Professional Conduct  and Code of Safe Practice.   BAA members are also soon to be registered with the Professional Standards Authority.  This is a government body set up to regulate health and social care providers, and is accountable to Parliament.

I am a member of the European Branch of the Toyohari Association (EBTA) as well as Toyohari UK
