Acupuncture and Me
My name is Maxine Silk and I am a fully qualified, traditional acupuncturist working at the busy Nurture Fertility clinic in Sandiacre, Nottingham. I have a second Acupuncture practice in a quiet and relaxing clinic in Ashby De La Zouch in North West Leicestershire.
My practice is founded in the belief that we need to promote health through balance. Balance in diet, fluids, sleep, exercise, emotions and lifestyle.
The key to 5 element acupuncture is the core belief that many physical symptoms experienced by people today are the result of emotional and spiritual distress rather than physical attributes.
Whether you are experiencing a chronic issue, a recent injury or want to achieve optimal health, restoring balance is the key to your well-being.
Together with 5 element acupuncture, I also treat using adjunctive skills such as
- Cupping Therapy
- Muscle Taping
- Korean Hand Therapy
- Auricular Acupuncture
- Korean Magnet Therapy
I treat according to your specific condition and will suggest a particular therapy if I think it will improve your condition.
Educated at The Acupuncture Academy I was awarded a Distinction for their Professional Licentiate in Acupuncture, as well as Highly Commended for my clinical work. My training was extensive and covered all aspects of Chinese medical and acupuncture theory, with a focus on the five element approach. This means that I consider your main health problem, as well as taking a more holistic approach to you as an individual.
I am a member of the BAcC (British Acupuncture Council) and adhere to the Council’s Codes of Safe Practice and Professional conduct. BAcC members are also registered with the Professional Standards Authority. This is a government body set up to regulate health and social care providers, and is accountable to Parliament.
My clinics are licensed by the relevant District Councils and I hold full medical malpractice and public/products liability insurance cover. I treat within the Bridge Centre for Natural Health clinic and the Castle Medical Group Centre.
